The Department of Tourism (DOT) celebrates the recognition of Panglao Island in Bohol, as one of Skyscanner’s Top 10 Trending Destinations for 2025, underscoring the island’s growing appeal and the Philippines’ rising prominence on the global travel scene.

Ranked eighth among the best places to visit, Panglao saw a 77 percent increase in flight searches during the first half of 2024, signaling a surge in international interest as travelers seek distinctive and rejuvenating experiences.

Skyscanner highlighted Bohol, with Panglao at its heart, for its diverse tourism offerings. The platform described the island as “emerging as a top Asian wellness destination, offering a refreshing alternative to more well-known spots in Europe.”

Tourists flock to Panglao for its pristine beaches, the iconic Chocolate Hills, and eco-tourism attractions like the Loboc River and Tarsier Sanctuary. The island’s focus on sustainable tourism, combined with its growing wellness tourism sector, continues to attract those in search of peaceful retreats.

Skyscanner’s rankings were based on flight search data from January 1 to June 30, 2024, compared to the same period the previous year. The findings show a shift among UK travelers toward lesser-known destinations that offer unique experiences outside of Europe.
