SB19 added another landmark achievement to its growing list of international milestones after becoming the first homegrown Filipino act to perform at Lollapalooza, one of the world’s most influential and longest-running music festivals.
Taking the Allianz Stage at Chicago’s Grant Park on July 30 (July 31 in the Philippines), the five-member group brought P-pop to one of music’s biggest global platforms, underscoring the genre’s increasing visibility beyond Southeast Asia.
Composed of Pablo, Josh, Stell, Ken and Justin, SB19 delivered a 10-song set that balanced explosive choreography with emotionally driven performances, introducing festivalgoers to the breadth of their catalogue while highlighting the group’s evolution as performers. Their appearance marked not only a career milestone but also another significant step for Filipino music, as international festivals continue to embrace a more diverse lineup of artists from across Asia.
The quintet opened with the hard-hitting “DAM” before seamlessly transitioning into the global hit “GENTO,” immediately drawing an enthusiastic response from the crowd. After greeting festivalgoers and introducing themselves, SB19 performed “LAWLESS” live for the first time, coinciding with the song’s worldwide release. The group followed with “Emoji,” showcasing the polished stage presence and synchronized performances that have become hallmarks of their live shows.
The performance then shifted to a more intimate tone as SB19 slowed the pace with the fan-favorite ballads “MAPA” and “Wakas.” Audience members waved their arms in unison, while many fans proudly held Philippine flags aloft, creating one of the set’s most memorable moments. The quieter segment allowed each member to connect personally with the audience before the group offered an exclusive preview of its rendition of Francis M’s classic “Mga Kababayan,” which will be featured in DreamWorks Animation’s upcoming film Forgotten Island.
The energy quickly returned as SB19 launched into “VISA” and “DUNGKA!,” with the latter receiving an unexpected boost when Chicago Bulls mascot Benny the Bull joined the group onstage during the song’s breakdown. The surprise appearance delighted the audience and added a distinctly local flavor to the historic performance. SB19 then closed with “CRIMZONE,” ending the set on an emphatic note that drew sustained cheers from festivalgoers.
Lollapalooza represented the latest highlight in what has become one of the busiest international stretches of the group’s career. Earlier in the week, SB19 performed at the GRAMMY Museum’s Global Spin Live in Los Angeles, where they discussed their musical journey and their goal of bringing Filipino music to a wider global audience. The following day, they became the first Filipino group to participate in a Major League Baseball ceremonial first pitch, with Josh taking the mound on behalf of the quintet.
The Chicago appearance also forms part of a broader international campaign for the group. SB19 is scheduled to perform at Japan’s Summer Sonic 2026 festival in Osaka on August 14 and Tokyo on August 15, sharing the bill with fellow Filipino artists BINI and ena mori. The bookings reflect the group’s steadily expanding presence on the global festival circuit, following years of building an international fanbase through world tours, viral releases, and chart milestones.
Following the performance, SB19 thanked supporters through social media, saying they hoped they had “made an impact” and were proud to represent the Philippines on the Lollapalooza stage.
With “LAWLESS” now officially released and more overseas appearances on the horizon, the group’s landmark Chicago debut appears less like a singular achievement than another chapter in its continuing international ascent.
