Filipino Muslims are officially observing Eid’l Fitr (Feast of Breaking the Fast) today, March 31, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

This announcement was made on Sunday by Bangsamoro Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdulrauf Guialani, who confirmed that moon-sighting teams from the Bangsamoro Darul Ifta had observed the Shawwal crescent moon across various locations in the region.

In a live broadcast, Guialani highlighted the importance of unity in following the Islamic calendar and urged the community to reflect on the spiritual significance of Eid.

“By the authority vested in me, as the Bangsamoro Mufti, I, Abdulrauf Guialani, hereby announce that the crescent moon was sighted today. Therefore, Eid’l Fitr and first day of Shawwal will be tomorrow, Monday, March 31, 2025, In Shaa Allah,” he said.

As part of the festivities, mosques and prayer grounds throughout the region are preparing for congregational prayers. Families are also getting ready to celebrate this joyous occasion, which marks the culmination of a month-long fasting period—a central practice in Islam.

In line with the observance, Malacañang has declared Tuesday, April 1, a regular holiday nationwide, through Proclamation No. 839. This declaration follows recommendations from the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF), ensuring that all Filipinos can fully participate in the observance of Eid’l Fitr.
