A team from the Chinese Embassy in the Philippines and Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Inc. (FFCCCII) visited Isla Puting Bato in Tondo, Manila on Tuesday, December 3, to assist families devastated by a recent massive fire.

During the visit, the group distributed 2,000 relief packages containing rice, clothing, and other essential items to help families begin their recovery. The fire, which broke out in late November, left hundreds of families displaced and in urgent need of aid.

Based on the report of the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, about 8,000 residents were displaced in an early morning fire that lasted for eight hours on November 24.

Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Huang Xilian has expressed his sympathies for those affected by a huge fire that displaced thousands of residents in Manila. “As the spirit of Christmas reminds us of the importance of unity and compassion, we stand alongside those in need, bringing hope and support during these challenging times.”

He also highlighted the strong partnership between the Chinese Embassy and the FFCCCII, emphasizing their shared commitment to supporting the resilience and recovery of the Filipino community.

“Our Embassy and the FFCCCII stand in solidarity with our Filipino friends as they rebuild with resilience, strength, and hope,” he added.

This relief distribution is part of an ongoing effort to assist the residents of Isla Puting Bato in their recovery journey. The Chinese Embassy has pledged continued support for disaster relief initiatives throughout the country.

“Kasama ninyo kami sa bawat hakbang ng inyong pagbangon,” Amb. Huang concluded, assuring the affected families of their unwavering support.
