Staying or Leaving, ‘I’m at Peace’ — VP Sara
Vice President Sara Duterte said she has accepted whatever fate awaits her amid the ongoing political climate, emphasizing her trust in divine purpose and commitment to her responsibilities.
“I’m at peace with whatever happens to me. I already accepted that whatever happens to me, that would be God’s purpose for my life,” Duterte said in a press briefing on December 11.
She expressed contentment with staying in office to fulfill her obligations, describing her term as a “contract with the Filipino people.”
“I’m at peace staying and finishing my term because that is my contract with the Filipino people. And I’m at peace going if I am removed from office,” she added.
Duterte’s remarks come amid mounting political pressure and scrutiny over her leadership.
At least two impeachment complaints have been filed against her in the House of Representatives, with a third reportedly set to follow next week. The complaints accuse Duterte of betraying public trust by allegedly misusing P612.5 million in confidential funds.
The vice president has strongly denied the allegations, maintaining her innocence and defending her actions as being in line with her office’s mandate.
