World Pet Expo returned for a larger second edition on September 24, bringing together pet owners, brands, and industry leaders at the World Trade Center Metro Manila (WTCMM) as demand for pet products and services continues to grow in the Philippines.
The four-day event, which runs until September 27, comes as the Philippines remains Southeast Asia’s biggest pet-owning nation. A Kantar Philippines survey cited by the International Trade Administration found that 94% of Filipino households own pets, with dogs remaining the most common companions while cat ownership continues to rise.
As more Filipinos treat pets as members of the family, spending has expanded beyond basic care to include premium food, toys, grooming, health services, and travel accessories such as strollers and carriers. The expo showcases products, services, and innovations aimed at meeting that growing demand while providing a platform for businesses across the pet industry.
The opening ceremony was hosted by radio personality Tina Ryan and attended by government officials, business leaders, and representatives from the animal welfare and pet care sectors.
Worldbex Services International (WSI) managing director Jill Athnie Ang said the expo has grown into a key gathering for the industry.
“World Pet Expo is becoming the premier platform where the pet industry comes together… Together, we are building an industry, strengthening a community, and creating a better future for our pets.”
Speakers at the ceremony included ABS-CBN Foundation advocacy ambassador Ernie Lopez; WTCMM chairman and chief executive Pamela Pascual; representatives from the Department of Agriculture, Department of Trade and Industry, Bureau of Animal Industry, and the Pasay City government.
Organised by WSI, World Pet Expo 2026 also serves as a fundraising event for ABS-CBN Foundation, with exhibits, activities, and educational programs running throughout the weekend.
