Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao is stepping back into the ring.

The 46-year-old boxing legend will return from a nearly four-year retirement to challenge American pro boxer Mario Barrios for the WBC welterweight title on July 19 in Las Vegas, ESPN reported on Thursday, citing unnamed sources.

Pacquiao, a southpaw from the Philippines, retired in 2021 after a storied career that included 62 wins, eight losses, and two draws across 72 fights. He remains the only boxer in history to win world titles in eight weight divisions, ranging from flyweight to super welterweight.

In retirement, he stayed active with exhibition matches against martial artist DK Yoo and kickboxer Rukiya Anpo.

Outside the ring, Pacquiao served as a senator in the Philippines from 2016 to 2022 and made an unsuccessful bid for the presidency in 2022. He is currently campaigning for a return to the Senate, with national elections set for May 12.

Pacquiao is also slated to be inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame next month, adding another milestone to his already historic career.
