The Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) broke its seven-day losing streak on Friday, edging up 0.17% or 10.78 points to close at 6,406.38 as investors hunted for bargains.

Despite the modest recovery, the benchmark PSEi ended the week in negative territory, shedding 3.18%. The All Shares index also declined, finishing the week at 3,675.83 points, down 2.05%.

Market breadth was negative, with 141 losers outpacing 78 gainers, while 41 stocks were unchanged. Liberty Flour Mills Inc., a holding firm with business interests in manufacturing flour and flour-related products, emerged as the week’s standout performer, surging 27.82% week-on-week.

Total traded value for the week reached P30.1 billion, with net foreign selling hitting P4.1 billion, reflecting persistent outflows from the local bourse.
